This paper is on “The Waste Land” by T.S. Eliot.
Write a 10 page paper that argues in favor of the following argument:
“The Waste Land” is often labeled as The Modernist Poem. T.S. Eliot’s use of syntax, diction, references (to biblical works and mythology), poetic structure, ect. in this poem support this claim. Yet, Eliot seems to oppose Modernistic theory when it applies to society, culture, and individualistic thought (except for literary work). Write an essay that displays this ironic conflict. Make sure to identify T.S. Eliot as a modernist through his poem “The Waste Land.” Also, through “The Waste Land,” historical content, and T.S. Eliot’s views on society and the individual, indicate that he dislikes modernistic theory when it applies to human and cultural development.
Use at least 5 different sources in your paper that help support your argument.
