Homework 2 – 30 points
Due June 16, 2013
Look around your home or, better yet, go to a store and look around.
1. Find a retail product packaged in a folding carton. Describe the product and state where
and when you found it. Report whether the style of the carton is tray type, tube type, or
some other style. (6 pts)
2. Find a retail product packaged in a corrugated box. Describe the product and and state
where and when you found it (date and location). Report the style of the box (RSC,
CSSC, etc.). (6 pts)
3. Find a retail product that is available both in plastic bottles and in glass bottles. The
products need not be identical (for example, do not have to be the same brand or size),
but must be similar (the same basic type of product). Describe the products and the
packages. Report where and when you found them. Include the color of the glass, and the
type of the plastic (HDPE, PET,….) in your package description. (6 pts)
4. Find a retail product that is available both in a plastic package and in a paper package. As
in question 3, the products need not be identical but must be similar. Describe the
products, including where and when you found them, and describe the packages. Include
the style of the paper package (carton, envelope,…) and the type of plastic and the style
of the plastic package (HDPE, PET,….; bottle, blister,…) in your package description. (6
pts)
5. Find a retail product that is available both in a plastic package and in a metal package. As
before, the products need not be identical but must be similar. Describe the products,
including where and when you found them, and the packages. Include in your description
identification of the metal (steel, aluminum) and the style of the package (can, bottle,…)
and the type and style of the plastic package (see Q4). (6 pts)
