At SHC, a customer walks in every hour (with a standard deviation of 1 hour) LHS has a staff of 4 barbersm while SHC has 1 barber. A typical service time at either salon lasts 30 mins (with a standard deviation of 33 mins)
a.On average how long will Customer A have to wait in lineat LHS before he can see a barber? (only include waiting time, not service time)
b. calculate the average number of customers waiting at LHS. Explain how you would decide the number of seats the LHS facility should have for waiting customers
c. If Customer A goes to SHC, on average, how long must he wait in line before his haircut starts?
d. LHS will buy out SHC. Assume that the previous traffic of SHC customers now flows to the LHS location. To accommodate the new flow rate, LHS now staffs one additional barber (to increase headcount to 5) Is the new waiting time at LHS less than or greater than the waiting time of LHS before the merge? (assume the coefficient of variation of customer inter-arrival times is 1)
